Dita Von Teese in Collette Dinnigan and Brian Atwood

Thursday, December 16, 2010

One week ago, Dita Von Teese celebrated the US launch of her exclusive limited edition set, "My Private Cointreau Coffret" at Fred Segal.  Von Teese looked like her typical self, reminiscent of a Hollywood star from years past.  Wearing a Collette Dinnigan dress, Brian Atwood heels and Secret in Lace by Dita stockings, she autographed both her limited edition set and her new book Dita: Striptease.  Sipping signature cocktails, Cointreau Tease and Cointreau Tonic, friends mingled at Fred Segal amid the new set, a "jewel" of a box cradling the iconic Cointreau bottle, two long-stemmed glasses, and a vivid custom designed shaker.  More details can be found at Cointreau.com and Facebook.com/Cointreau.

Fashion Tips from TV Style-Star James Aguiar

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

James Aguiar, best known as the face for Emmy-nominated television series Full Frontal Fashion and as a host on Where D'Ya Get That? and Style Court discloses to 24-7 Style a few killer tips for staying on top of trends.  Want more James?  Read this week's DIY!

On Trends...

"The great thing about trends is there are so many ways to find them everywhere!  I currently worship faux fur.  It's so glam and politically correct, the best mix of all!  I also love the boot trend! Go to DSW and find all the best prices - look for black or brown and a chunky sole and wear them with everything from dresses and skirts to jeans and tees!  Lastly the chunky knitwear trend is so cozy and yummy!  Look for great versions at h&m and Uniqlo!"

On Stores with a More Purse-Friendly Budget...

"My favorite stores to shop on a dime are numerous!  I love Filenes and Loehmans as well as Top Shop, H&M, and Forever 21.  Don't forget thrift stores and vintage shops!  They are always the stylist's secret!!!!"

General Wardobe Tips...

"Invest in classic and basic items and spend less on trendier pieces you know won't last. Definitely shop sales!  Know a store's refund policy and always ask if there are any additional discounts (there usually are).  Also, have a budget and don't go over!  To keep the items you have looking new, don't over dry-clean and they will last longer."

Strike a Pose...

"If you want to look runway ready all the time, go with certain elements of a designer that you love but don't go "head to toe."  Fashion is there to inspire, not dictate!  Come up with your own signature style and not only will you be runway ready....you might just get your own paparazzi following you!"

Get Camilla Belle's Makeup Look at the Hollywood Style Awards!

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Camilla Belle looked sophisticatedly glam at Sunday's Hollywood Style Awards at the Hammer Museum wearing a Kimberly Ovitz dress and Stuart Weitzman platforms, but where would she be had it not been for her makeup artist, Brett Freedman?  Freedman gave the star a gorgeous, sun-kissed look to complement her natural glow for the red carpet.

Below, Freedman politely shares his tricks to achieve the look on your own!

FOUNDATION/BRONZER:

Lorac Natural Performance Gives great coverage without a heavy feel. Goes on clean and doesn't budge! Camilla wears #4 to work with her natural tan.
Jemma Kidd School 'Perfect Tan' Camilla just got back from a tropical vacation so I amped up her glow with this trio of bronzing powder.
DermaMinerals On-the-Go Finishing Powder I set the look with this mattifying honeysuckle-scented translucent powder in an easy twist-and-go combo.

EYES:

Revlon Luminous 'Wild Orchid' Camilla likes to use plums to bring out the green in her eyes, so I used this pretty little quad of blend-able purple creams.
MAC 'Idol Eyes' Since Camilla was wearing a pale gray dress, I wanted to incorporate a light-catching silver to her lash line. I applied this shimmery pewter eyeshadow with a small damp brush to her tear duct and upper lash line.
L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon My hands-down favorite drugstore mascara!
Ardell Individual Lashes Ardell makes the most realistic and easy-to-apply individual lash falsies, and I used a short black version on Camilla.

CHEEKS/LIPS:

Maybelline Dream Mousse Soft Plum Camilla was liking her post-beach glow and wanted to keep her cheeks and lips simple with just a hint of healthy sheen. This cream blush added just the right hint of flushed color, and I kept her lips minimal with a bit of shimmery gloss.

Steal your Favorite AMA Look!

Rihanna, Pink, Taylor Swift and Kelly Osbourne stepped out at the 2010 American Music Awards sporting unique hair styles that had heads turning. Each of their edgy ‘dos were perfect for making a splash on the red carpet and rocking out to the nights’ musical performances.

Want to recreate each lady’s show-stopping hair style? Read on for simple step-by-step instructions from Emilie Luciano, ECRU New York Styling Director, on how to get these glam looks…

How to get Rihanna’s look:

On dry hair, take small sections and spray ECRU Sunlight Holding Spray ($22). Then, use a small curling iron and wind each curl in a spiral motion onto the curling iron. Once the entire head is set this way, break up the curls using ECRU Silk Texturizing Balm ($32.50).

How to get Pink’s look:

Using New York Streets Wax ($14), liberally work the product through dry hair. Then, use a comb to style hair into place.

How to get Taylor Swift’s look:

First, blow dry hair nice and smooth using ECRU Silk Nectar Serum ($32.50). Then once set, spray hair with ECRUSunlight Styling Spray ($22.95) for a soft touchable hold.

How to get Kelly Osbourne’s look:

On wet hair at the roots, start with a small amount of New York Streets Volume Foam ($17.50). Then, work in New York Streets Forming Gel ($15.50) on the mid shaft to ends. These products will help give lift and control to the hair. Use a round brush and blow dryer to style. Use New York Streets Hairspray ($16.50) to hold into place.

Fairwell to Mascara, Hello to Lashdip!

Friday, December 3, 2010

That's right, you read that correct!  The one cosmetic women are most likely to never leave the house without, is being replaced by LashDip, "The World's Most Perfect Coat of Mascara."  And perfect it is!

So what exactly is LashDip?  Think of it as a semi-permanent mascara.  "Dipping" your lashes helps you maintain gorgeous lashes for up to six weeks.  The waterproof formula is applied by a trained professional, leaving your lashes perfectly curled, separated, and clump-free...exactly what we strive for each morning when applying our mascara.

Making it so revolutionary is the fact that almost anyone is a good candidate for LashDip.  According to co-founder Jessica Harley, "women from their teens into their eighties, those with sensitive eyes, contact lens wearers, allergy sufferers, those who are sensitive to cosmetics, active sport participants, vacationers/brides, those who tint/perm their lashes, expectant mothers, and those who lack enough vision to apply cosmetics,"can successfully get their lashes "dipped."

The process itself is fairly easy as your professional curls and coats each lash, the entire process only taking about 45 minutes to an hour.  The results are truly amazing!  Imagine waking up and having your lashes looking perfect, ready to go without a thing done!

LashDip essentially "grows out" with your lashes.  Jessica recommends coming back to fill in the space 2-3 weeks after your initial treatment.  Since your "lash cycle" is only about 6 weeks, your dipped lashes eventually fall out making room for new ones.

Salons are adding the service rapidly, Jessica saying "approximately 15-20 salons per month" are beginning to offer LashDip.   To learn more or to find a salon near you, visit the website, www.LashDip.com.
